Dear Cedar Heights Families,

What a wonderful start to the school year at Cedar Heights! As we move through the first part of the year, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the ways our students are learning, growing, and getting involved.

One of the things that has been especially exciting is seeing our students find their place at Cedar. Our fall athletics and clubs are providing opportunities for students to build friendships, develop new skills, and be part of something bigger than themselves. One great example is our track team, which currently has 135 student-athletes participating! It is wonderful to see so many students choosing to get involved and represent Cedar Heights.

Our students have also completed their first round of STAR assessments. We are looking forward to receiving the results and using that information to help students understand where they are in their learning and where they can grow. Our goal is not simply to give students a score, but to help them answer three important questions: Where am I? Where am I going? What can I do next? This is Progress over Perfection in action.

We are also seeing encouraging results from our work around technology and student focus. With 757 students enrolled at Cedar Heights, we have had only 23 instances this year in which an electronic personal device has needed to be confiscated. This is a remarkable reflection of our students' ability to follow expectations and stay focused on learning.

Most importantly, I continue to hear positive feedback about the calm, welcoming, and purposeful environment our staff and students are creating. Our Cedar Commitment—to be Kind, Safe, and Responsible—is becoming part of the way we live and learn together each day.

Thank you to our students for the effort they bring each day, to our families for partnering with us, and to our incredible staff for creating the conditions where students can learn, belong, and grow.

We are off to a wonderful start, and there is so much more to come!
